Humane effort earned applause, not a pause

I was disappointed by the Home News Tribune's May 4 editorial praising North Brunswick's decision to remove the colony of feral cats. "Cleaning out" the colony will mean the certain deaths of these unfortunate animals. While it is true that it is not ideal for cats to live in the wild, it is also true that human beings are at fault for having let these unspayed/unneutered animals loose in the first place. The Animal Lifesavers were only trying to work out a compassionate compromise to this problem, but, sadly, their efforts have been rejected.
